Birmingham International Train Station Boiler Replacement

Scope of Work:
The project was to decommission and remove existing life expired boilers, pipework and ancillary equipment within main plant room and replace with new high efficiency boilers and modernise pipework system.
The existing boilers were disassembled by a specialist asbestos removal contractor and the area made safe for the new installation.

The new installation consisted of
  •  X 2 500kw ideal condensing boilers
  •  New stainless steel condensing flue system
  •  Shunt pumps for the primary heating circuit.
  • Single headed pumps with separately piped reserve back up pump for both constant and variable temperature circuit pumps.
  • 6 inch magna clean magnetic filter, and 6 inch air dirt separator on the primary heating circuit.
  • A custom 10 inch vertical low loss header fabricated by ourselves on site.
  • New 4 inch welded Gas main to supply new boilers including new safety devices and controls.
  • All pipework was installed in welded heavyweight steel.
  • As part of the project the pipework and heat emitters throughout the station were chemically flushed and the system balanced on completion for maximum system efficiency. 
  • Chemical Inhibitor was introduced into the system through the new dosing pot to the correct levels to protect the new equipment and pipework.
  • Pipework thermal insulation installed by trusted established supplier.
